My Absence

All,

I know I have been MIA for a few months and had no recent posts but I will hopefully be back now. Not to get into to much detail about my absence, I quit my job for a new job at a larger company with new technology. My first two months at my new job have been awesome and my first project has been re-wiring the entire data center so I have been pretty busy. But along with this new job and new responsibilties comes new knowledge and new technology I can blog about and share with everyone.

Keyword Strategy for SEO

A good keyword strategy should be one of your first if not your first part to a good SEO plan. Defining what keywords you want to target is very crucial and should never be skipped. If you skip defining what keywords you want to target then you are just going to be shooting in the dark and have no real direction which will give you very low traffic or traffic that is not your target audience.

Choosing a good domain name for SEO

A lot of people feel that choosing a good domain name is easy to do, simply choose your business name as the web site URL. This option is most of the time true and for most brick and mortor businesses the best option. But unless you business name is rich in the keywords your target customers are looking for you are not likly going to rank very easily on the search engines. Most of the time I suggest someone looking to rank high in search engines to use a keyword rich domain name. But there are a few things you need to consider which I will discuss in this article.

Microsoft Group Policy – Basics

Microsoft Group Policy became very useful with the launch of Windows server 2000 and as more and more businesses were moving away from the workgroup environment and into the domain environment. Group Policy gave network administrators a way to control settings on all computers and servers that exsist within there network domain. Over the years group policy has evolved and become very customizable where each OU within Active Directory can have its own group policy. So if you need to hadle the computers within the accounting department different than the computers in the maintenance department, group policy can do this. For the purposes of this article I will be discussing the newest version which is what is included in Windows Server 2008 64-bit. Although there are not a whole lot of changes (except the look) betweeen Server 2003 and Server 2008 I am willing to do a Server 2003 Group Policy article if enough people would like to see it.

How to Design a Web Site Using MS Paint

Most web Designers now a days use expensive programs like Adobe Dreamweaver or Adobe Fireworks to create their web sites. Well these programs have a lot of functionality but they also have heavy price tag as well. As a starting out web designer I did not have access to programs like this until I had designed a couple sites. So I needed a way I could create my Web Designs with what I had when I started and that was a Laptop with Windows XP, an internet connection, and the willingness to learn. What I needed was a way I could layout the way I wanted my web page to look and then extract parts of the images for my web site.

Changing your MAC Address in Windows Vista

For those of you who do not know what a MAC address is, it is the burned in address that every networking piece of equipment has that is unique. No two pieces of equipment should every have the same MAC address. There are many reasons someone might want to change the MAC address of the network card or wireless card. Maybe they are trying to connect to someone’s wireless network that only allows certain MAC addresses. You can also change your MAC address to test your own security settings, and even DHCP settings. So there are many reasons why you might want to change your MAC address.

Why every web site needs SEO

Every site needs some form of SEO or advertising or else the web site is absolutly useless because no one will see it there. Now when I speak of SEO and advertising it can be as simple as adding some new content every few days or telling some friends about your site. Or as difficult and expensive as having someone completly optimize your website for search engines and purchasing PPC ads off of Google or Yahoo.

MikeNET PC CMS Version 1.0 Finished

How To Reset a Symbol AP 5131

Symbol is a large company when it comes to technology products and even wireless devices. Symbol offers a more affordable alternative to Cisco while still including some of the functionality of Cisco products. Symbol like Cisco and unlike Netgear or the Linksys models does not have a switch on the back to allow you to simply reset the wireless to factory defaults.
